I have been a dog lover all my life. I was never able to have a dog growing up due to my brother’s allergies. However, it never stopped me from finding every dog I could to play with in the neighborhoods where I was living at the time. Once I grew up, got married and had children I knew I had to have a dog in my life. In comes Taxi, a rescue from the research centre at the University of Guelph. She was, in my opinion, the perfect dog. I did take her to a conventional type training centre and felt that I was doing the best for her. I was always questioning the trainers about the treat type training and they tried to reassure me that this was the only way to train a dog. Being a new owner I thought I would have to trust them. Once I was done with this training I started to believe that a dog should be doing what it was told, not because of a treat, but because the dog chooses to out of respect for the owner. Even though Taxi is now in her golden years she is still my greatest inspiration when it comes to dogs and their training. I learned so much from her that I need to thank her for bringing me to this point. I had an opportunity for a career change in my life and thought that I wanted to go back to my true passion. Dogs. I had been watching Brad’s show for quite awhile and truly believed in everything he was doing. When I was on the website one day I saw that his training was coming to Toronto. No matter what I needed to be there. |

Coming from a community where the trades were the only jobs that were encouraged, I decided to pursue an education in manufacturing and engineering. After doing a couple years of college I dropped out because of lack of interest in my study. I worked in the manufacturing field for over 8 years and was unhappy with the job. Living for five o’clock and the weekends was not what I wanted. After years of just going through the “dead end job” motions I came across “At The End of My Leash” which little did I know would change my life forever. I started to take interest in what Brad had to offer and attended a couple seminars. His training methods were not like any I had seen before and he could back up everything he taught. I was fascinated by Brad’s determination to educate people on their dog’s needs, and the ability to just tell people the honest truth about what he thought. He gives people hope for a brighter future and this is what I want to bring to others as well. Becoming a CTE has given me the knowledge and confidence to give others the tools they need to have the relationship they always wanted with their canine companion. There is nothing more rewarding than having your dog respect you and look to you for guidance. I welcome the new challenges and learning experiences that I come across everyday with open arms. |

A lifetime of dog ownership has given me many great memories as well as one clear lesson - without on-demand control of your dog, a joyful experience can quickly be ruined by misbehavior or worse. Growing up on a farm, I’ve enjoyed the companionship of dogs and other animals since childhood. I quickly learned that our laissez-faire approach doesn’t work in the city. Various training courses left me with moderate success, but no real control of my dog beyond basic commands. With young children now in the house, I needed an approach that we would give me confidence and peace of mind. I found this and more through my work with Brad Pattinson. Brad’s training, combined with eight years as a Registered Equine Massage Therapist and veterinarian assistant, has inspired me to work directly with clients and help them experience what is possible when defining a dynamic relationship with your dog. I am so proud to be a Certified Trainer Educator with the Brad Pattison Team and share his approach with others.

Always a fan of the show “At the End of my Leash”, I attended a seminar Brad was holding in Toronto. I was in awe as to the knowledge and results that were being presented. Brad’s unique methods made sense and I saw first hand the difference it made with my own dog. I thought it would be a great opportunity to become part of the Hustle Up Team. To share the knowledge that Brad has passed on and to help owners get the respect that they deserve. This training creates an incredible bond between dog and owner and I can’t wait to educate owners so they can have a more fulfilling life with their dog. |
